Our Competitors
Avoiding Risks

In addition to hiring us for a sweep or computer investigation we recommend that clients focus on good security practices.

The value of our inspections for eavesdropping devices is long lasting in companies which are careful to control access by outsiders and misdeeds by employees.

Watch out for competitive intelligence probes. A great book that gives information on this is Confidential by John Nolan.

Network security is critical to many of our computer forensic services. For example, without good server and firewall logs it may not be possible to connect an action to an individual. For more info on forensic procedures see Incident Response by Kevin Mandia and Chris Prosise or Computer Crime Investigation edited by Eoghan Casey.

case study
case title

A now-defunct research firm that developed fiber optic sensors to measure blood gas partial pressures had a problem.

A board member opened the conference room door and noticed an employee with a drinking glass; he was using it to listen through the wall to the meeting. Oops!

Unfortunately the eavesdropper was a key employee.

They fired him anyway.

Moral of the story: high tech eavesdropping is not the only way that intellectual property can be lost.
